Riot's Teamfight Tactics: Mid-Set Update
Riot’s popular auto chess title, Teamfight Tactics, has entered its mid-set for Set 9, Runeterra Reforged. The mid-set update for Set 9 brings reworks to items and introduces new traits and units while removing some old ones. Notably, Yordle, Shadow Isle, and Deadeyes have been replaced with traits such as Vanquisher and Bilgewater.
The Removal of the Yordle Trait
The Yordle trait, which allows players to upgrade their Yordle champion to a 4-star unit, was underutilized in Set 9 and ultimately removed in the 9.5 mid-set update. This led players to believe that the ability to make a 4-star unit was completely gone from the game. However, the developers of TFT have added a special easter egg for players to discover.
The Elusive 4-Star Heimerdinger
Despite the trait's removal, players can still achieve a 4-star Heimerdinger in Set 9.5. Heimerdinger is a 5-cost unit with his own turret that fights alongside him. A 4-star Heimerdinger would unleash a barrage of electric grenades, effectively wiping out the entire enemy board at the start of the round.
Many players were initially unsure of how to attain the elusive 4-star Heimerdinger. Some speculated that having three 3-star units might trigger the condition, but these theories were proven incorrect. Thankfully, the lead designer of Teamfight Tactics, Mortdog, stepped in to provide clarification.
The Challenge of Acquiring a 4-Star Heimerdinger
According to Mortdog, players need to 3-star both Poppy and Heimerdinger in order to acquire a 4-star Heimerdinger. This presents a significant challenge as Poppy is a 1-cost unit and Heimerdinger is a 5-cost unit. However, if players are able to meet these conditions, they will be rewarded with a rare and impressive easter egg that will surely impress the rest of the lobby.
