Oskar ‘Selfmade’ Boderek's Return to League Of Legends
After over a year out of action, former Fnatic and Vitality player, Oskar ‘Selfmade’ Boderek, has declared his return to League of Legends. He is keen to join a team for the 2024 season, following a year's hiatus from the game. This announcement succeeds a prolonged pause in his gaming career that began with his benching by Vitality in June 2022, reportedly due to differences in game strategy.
Selfmade's Absence and Return
The Polish Jungler was absent from the 2022 Summer split and the 2023 season. However, as he returns to the off-season in 2024, he does so as a free agent, his contract with Vitality having been terminated, as mutually agreed upon, last month. On social media, Selfmade communicated his intention to resume the game after admitting to "fully wasting my life over a year". He is now hopeful about restoring his past performance and catching the eye of potential teams.
Selfmade's Career and Potential to Upgrade
Despite the notable decline in his stock over the past 18 months, Selfmade could still be considered an upgrade over some Jungler players currently in the LEC and LCS. He first debuted in the LEC in 2019 with SK Gaming, before joining Fnatic to replace Mads ‘Broxah’ Brock-Pedersen as the starting jungler. His time at Fnatic was punctuated with two consecutive second-place finishes in the LEC and a playoff appearance at Worlds in 2020. His tenure with Fnatic was, however, short-lived and came to an end in 2021 due to internal disagreements.
Selfmade's Time with Vitality
Before stepping away from active play, Selfmade had joined the ranks of Vitality. Despite the promising ensemble the organization managed to assemble, including Luka ‘Perkz’ Perković in the mid-lane and Barney ‘Alphari’ Morris in the top lane, the team struggled in their performance.
Eager to Compete Again
Towards the end of last year, with the uncertainty of 2023 looming, Selfmade confessed his frustration on his live stream, saying, “I’m having the worst time of my life right now. The only thing I want to do is compete. I don’t feel like doing anything besides that.”. With his recent announcement and evident zest to return to pro play, audiences will be watching closely whether Selfmade will revive his former glory in the upcoming season.
